The 50 km category starts and finishes at the Nio no Mori campsite next to Ayabe Onsen in the Okukanbayashi area of Ayabe, Kyoto, looping through the mountains around the headwaters of the Yura River. It passes aid stations at Mito Hiroba, Yamada community hall, Mitsuno Pass, Oitomi and Kasa Jizo, and the course is 83% trail. Organised by FunTrails.
The course tops out at 727 m (low point 144 m). There are 4 big climbs: 548 m around 0–6 km; 415 m around 13–21 km; 413 m around 31–38 km; 315 m around 43–48 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade).
