The 48 km category of the Ninja Trail Running Race starts and finishes at Sarubino Onsen in Oyamada, Iga, Mie, climbing Mt. Saikyo, passing Tashiro Pond and Mt. Reizan, then via Tsuge to Mt. Kitauchi and Okuyono Park. It links the Akame-Muro-Aoyama and Suzuka quasi-national parks: runnable early, with rugged mountain terrain around Mt. Aburahi mid-course. Organised by the race committee and planned by Iga Trail Runners Club; held since 2017.
The course tops out at 780 m (low point 227 m). There are 4 big climbs: 360 m around 0–4 km; 479 m around 18–23 km; 338 m around 25–27 km; 540 m around 34–39 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade).
