The roughly 48 km category of the OSJ Adatarayama Trail starts and finishes at Adatara Kogen ski area above Dake Onsen in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima, circling the active volcano Mt. Adatara, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains. Cutoffs at Numajiri trailhead, Mount Bandai and Shiozawa Onsen ski area; with a 15-hour limit the final section runs after dark. Organised by the race committee and run by Power Sports (OSJ).
The course tops out at 1,732 m (low point 815 m). 5 climbs of 300 m or more keep coming; the biggest is 773 m around 10–17 km. The longest descent drops 917 m around 34 km at about 16% on average. Only about 20% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending.
