The 52.2 km, ±2,717 m category of the Sakurayama Trail ("Sakurayama Double"): two laps of the 26 km loop from Yashio Onsen (Onishi Kanko Hotel) in Fujioka, Gunma over Benten-yama, the Ontake course and Sakurayama Park, famous for its winter cherry blossoms. Cutoffs at the end of lap 1 and at Miharashi Chaya, with an 11-hour limit. Organised by the Fujioka Sakurayama farm-stay council, course supervised by Yamato Yoshino.

The course

The course tops out at 771 m (low point 149 m). There are 4 big climbs: 417 m around 0–5 km; 567 m around 9–16 km; 425 m around 26–31 km; 567 m around 35–42 km. Only about 30% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending.
