World Heritage Pilgrimage Triangle Race 2027
Also known as: Sankeimichi Triangle
A mountain traverse of about 225 km and 17,000 m of climbing that links the three sacred sites of the World Heritage "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" (Yoshino and Omine, the Kumano Sanzan shrines and Koyasan) via the Omine Okugake trail, the Kumano Kohechi and the Kobo Daishi trail. It is run in two stages over four days, starting and finishing at Yoshino Station. The course is unmarked and includes night travel, areas without mobile coverage, rock, chains and ladders. Entry is by selection.
