Starts and finishes in Chamonix: fast, rolling trails up the valley to Le Tour and Vallorcine, then the steep, technical climb of the Aiguillette des Posettes, the course's main challenge, before returning via La Flégère with sweeping views of the Mont Blanc massif.
The course tops out at 2,192 m (low point 1,038 m). There are 3 big climbs: 1,150 m around 0–17 km; 449 m around 23–29 km; 440 m around 30–34 km. The longest descent drops 925 m around 17 km at about 16% on average. Only about 30% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending. In 2026, 87% of starters finished.
