Based at New Sunpia Saitama Ogose in Ogose, Saitama, the race covers the Okumusashi hills in two stages that each return to the venue: North via Mt. Kasa, Mt. Dodaira and Ono Pass, and South 1 via Kanhasshu Miharashidai, Ne-no-Gongen and Mt. Tenkaku. There are no course marshals; runners follow the signage.
The course tops out at 903 m (low point 76 m). There are 3 big climbs: 557 m around 0–13 km; 743 m around 25–36 km; 700 m around 57–70 km. Only about 30% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending. In 2026, 57% of starters finished — a tough one. The median finish was about 27 h, through one night.
